Shellmar Construction is looking for a highly organised and experienced Accounts Manager to oversee the company’s operations, ensure accurate reporting, and support strategic commercial decision‑making. The candidate should have strong experience in construction accounting, CIS, payroll, and managing multi‑project cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day‑to‑day accounting functions (AP, AR, payroll, banking).
- Oversee CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions and subcontractor payments.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, management accounts, and cash‑flow forecasts.
- Monitor project costs, variations, budgets, and profit margins.
- Handle supplier invoices, statements, and payment schedules.
- Liaise with project managers to track spending versus budgets.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping and ensure compliance with UK accounting regulations.
- Coordinate with external accountants for year‑end accounts.
- Support the Director with financial planning, budgeting, and cost‑saving strategies.
- Improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years experience as Accounts Manager / Finance Manager (construction preferred).
- Strong knowledge of CIS, VAT, payroll, and project finance.
- Experience using accounting software (Sage and construction project software).
- Excellent accuracy, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
- AAT Level 3/4 or ACCA part‑qualified (preferred but not essential).
