What's the role

The purpose of the Regional Cross Book Analyst – T&S Crude & Products role is to lead analysis and integration of analysis across regional desks /commodities as part of Shell's oil trading business. The roles exist in each major trading region to support the Vice President Oil Analytics in the integration of views between regions and commodities to facilitate generation of trading biases at a global and inter-regional level with the Crude & Product Commodity Vice Presidents and Regional Team Leads. Oil Analytics aims to capture and monetise insights from the information flow advantage Shell Trading possesses, leveraging our domain expertise to generate deep analytical insights, including through advanced analytics.

What you'll be doing

The role will interface with regional, global and advanced analytics teams across the Crude and Products organization as they map, define and build their analysis requirements and then define and deliver integration of analysis on an ongoing basis. The Regional Cross Book Analyst will be expected to maintain a clear understanding of all major aspects of analysis across each commodity within their regional of focus and of how those views interact with the global perspective. Strong communication and engagement skills will be required to represent and engage around that view with key stakeholders.

What you bring

  • Strong background in refinery economics or refinery technology and/or demonstrated experience in oil market analysis with a focus on refining fundamentals.
  • Strategic thinker, able to develop and articulate a vision and direction in complex technical and analytical situations.
  • Track record in delivering value, from opportunity identification to delivery, dealing with unknowns and taking decisions with an incomplete set of information,
  • Strong communications and stakeholder management skills. Able to articulate a vision and build support for that vision in the wider team and organization.
  • Ability to self-start and direct efforts based on high-level business objectives,
  • Strong people skills with the ability to work in and lead diverse teams to meet new and complex challenges.
