Overview

The Finance Advisor for the Ada Program will work closely with the Ada Finance Manager, the Finance Operations Integration Lead and the Risk Lead for Ada, and support the core Finance & Risk Ada Leadership Team. This role is important in ensuring the overall finance & risk team can support the program and quickly implement and ratify changes. The role will cover a broad range of responsibilities and skills, but will work closely with all teams across Finance and Risk, and the central program, with a strong focus on bringing the right people together and supporting the teams through the program and transformation. This will be a unique role for the incumbent to gain a very good understanding of the Gas and Power Business, end-to-end understanding of trading systems, finance processes and controls, stakeholder management, and involvement in a unique transformation program.

Shell Energy Europe & Africa (SE-EA) is part of the Shell Trading & Supply organization with a focus on European gas and power markets. SE-EA trades natural gas, power, green power certificates, and environmental products with counterparties including major resource holders, upstream producers, investment banks, trading houses, utilities, power generators, and large industrial and commercial users. The European Gas, Power and Carbon trading business has grown significantly and will undertake a significant technology upgrade, including a new ETRM to align with long-term objectives and growth. Project Ada is driving the ETRM transformation and related end-to-end process and control improvements to support SE-EA and EPT Business.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders, both internal and external (Finance VPs, Business GMs, T&S Functional leads, EY) to understand deliverables, identify gaps and blockers, and frame decisions
  • Track overall Finance progress in terms of timeline, scope, budget and program benefits
  • Track overall program benefits with the help of business focal points and report to DRB
  • Support the Finance and Risk Product Owners in delivering on areas such as dual-ETRM, controls, process mapping, design and testing. Assist in overseeing Finance in its entirety, and supporting the teams to ensure end-to-end considerations
  • Help frame and track decisions in design and document outcomes, further actions and timelines
  • Participate in design and testing, bringing together the right people with the necessary expertise and decision-making delegation
  • Manage relationships with broader Ada stakeholders alongside the Line of Business PDS (Process, Data, Systems) Owner as well as with Finance stakeholders of other LoB PDS transformation projects
  • This role offers the incumbent an opportunity to develop deep knowledge of Finance & Risk (trading) processes, system architecture and data governance, serving as a foundation for future finance roles in trading and beyond
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to listen, understand, challenge and defend positions robustly to stakeholders
  • Willing and open to work in a dynamic environment that is fast-paced
  • Experience in processes, controls, systems is not a must, but relevant experiences are valued in the selection criteria
