What’s The Role
The role supports our business’ aim to be a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, partnering with customers on their journey towards carbon neutrality and serving 5‑10% of the UK business energy market by 2030. We are seeking a highly accomplished PPA Sales Origination Manager to lead the origination and sales execution of complex Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for large Industrial and Commercial (I&C) clients. This very exciting strategic sales role requires a proven ability to influence at C‑suite level, deliver innovative energy solutions, and drive significant revenue growth within a highly competitive and complex market. This is a home‑based role but extensive face‑to‑face visits with both prospective and existing customers, internal Shell teams and other relevant external parties will be expected on a regular basis. The base office for this role will be our main London office although you will be expected to travel to other Shell sites depending on the interaction required.
What You’ll Be Doing
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proven, and positive senior sales professional with a grasp on the economics of the large I&C energy sector and associated markets, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on an ambitious and growing B2B organisation. Being field‑based in nature, travel is a prerequisite as is the ability to travel on short notice within the UK and possibly occasionally abroad where the opportunity is European/globally based.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Origination & Market Penetration: Develop and execute a high‑impact sales strategy targeting major I&C customers in high‑quality target sectors. Identify and secure new business opportunities through proactive engagement and thought leadership. Collaborate with existing I&C customers to understand their evolving energy needs and design tailored PPA solutions that align with their long‑term sustainability and decarbonisation objectives.
- Executive‑Level Negotiation: Structure, negotiate, and close multi‑million‑pound PPA agreements with senior stakeholders within large corporate organisations. Ensure commercial terms align with corporate objectives and risk management frameworks. Work closely with trading and origination teams to ensure that PPA asset demand is matched with the right major I&C customer opportunities. Identify customer‑specific needs to tailor an overall PPA solution that creates a unique proposition and adds long‑term value.
- Leadership & Influence: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through complex energy procurement decisions. Represent the company at industry events, forums, and executive networking opportunities.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, compliance, finance, trading, origination, supply sales and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of contractual negotiations, conversions and obligations. Provide strategic input to product development and pricing models based on market intelligence.
What You Bring
We are keen to hear from candidates with significant professional experience in UK energy markets, renewable generation, and PPA/Corporate PPA structures. Moreover, we’d also like to see the following:
- Qualifications: Degree educated in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Sales & Negotiation: Proven ability to originate, structure and close complex, high‑value deals including corporate PPA transactions; advanced negotiation skills with senior stakeholders and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
- Product Knowledge: You’ll have strong knowledge of various corporate PPA structures, the renewable generation asset market and supply sleeving contracts.
- Strategic Thinking: Commercially astute with ability to develop and execute growth strategies.
