What is the Role

ONEgas West is a collection of three assets in the ‘Southern North Sea’ comprising of two manned production platforms and a gas processing plant at Bacton. These roles are for our onshore gas plant located at Bacton on the Norfolk coast about 25 miles north of Norwich. The Assets are described as LEAN assets and follow a similar operating model. The Senior Operations Technician is a key member of the production team with influence across a wide range of work execution on site, therefore the successful candidate should be a great communicator, with the capacity to quickly transition between topics and timeframes. The role will require highly effective decision making to ensure optimization of the plant and effective maintenance work execution to comply with integrated activity plans. Key responsibilities include:

  • Health and Safety Experience
  • Demonstrate excellent safety leadership and behaviours, ensuring that Shell’s HSSE expectations are communicated, maintained, and implemented.
  • To be fully conversant with all Installation activities to be able to make on the spot decisions regarding conflicting activities and plant control to prevent any unsafe acts.
  • Be a competent Isolation Owner and permit holder in Permit to Work (preferably P-Vision).
  • Actively participate in auditing as required and near miss reporting.
  • Organize safe preparation of equipment complying with the Work Instructions.
  • Self-management of own competency.
  • Emergency Response Training, Managing Major emergencies training.
  • Strong understanding of the work instructions to enforce compliance when executing day to day activities.
  • Understand and review Operating procedures, record changes, and follow due process to facilitate updates.
  • Responsibilities within the asset Turnaround/shutdown readiness, execution, and statement of fitness processes.
  • Knowledgeable in the Asset Management System and their role in it, specifically the Ensure Safe Production Process.
  • Strong understanding of COMAH site regulations and their associated interaction with site delivery.
  • Responsible for the progression and sustainment of key operations qualifications and competencies.

What you bring

  • Significant years’ experience and qualifications within Frontline Operations & Maintenance or Production is highly desirable.
  • Control room operations experience would be very beneficial.
  • Able to prepare isolate and reinstate equipment as per the Work instruction, prior to releasing that equipment for work - ability to carry out personal isolations and complex isolations, including preparation and re-instatement of plant and equipment.
  • Work within a Permit to work system.
  • Ability to understand and application of SIRP within the Safe isolation process.
  • Aware of Work instructions/ POPM's/ SECE and Performance Standards.
  • Continuous Improvement mind-set with a desire to improve the process and make it more efficient, as well as an ability to problem solve and take ideas through to completion.
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills, a high degree of self-reliance with appropriate technical skills, to ensure prompt responses are made based on technical judgement.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change is essential to enable the incumbent to work in a highly motivated and empowered environment.
  • Educated to HNC Standard or equivalent in process or technical qualification desirable.
  • Trade background desirable.
  • Process qualification NVQ 3 or equivalent standard beneficial.
  • Carry out planned, preventative, remedial and breakdown maintenance as directed by Line Supervisor.

Working Pattern

Onshore: Typical rota is 7 on 7 off 7 on 14 off, fully rotational 12hr days. Typical Rota is 14 on 14 off with additional rotational rest weeks as per offshore schedule.
