What's the role
This is a great opportunity to join our operations team to support our B2B gas and power customers to optimise their metering requirements. The role will develop the metering quality from an SEUK perspective, maximising sites billed to actual reads, and those with advanced metering and aligned to industry change.

Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will be the Metering Lead, working with customers to understand their metering portfolio, identify improvements at a customer level, liaising with third parties to ensure the work is completed, keeping our customers informed and optimising the experience for them along the way.

As well as this you will be responsible for maintaining the gas and power metering portfolio to improve industry read performance through the roll out of advanced metering.

You will get the opportunity to join a key business initiative and support with establishing, improving, and documenting operational processes for a critical part of our business.

What you'll be doing

Customer Onboarding:

  • Proactively review customer metering portfolio at point of acquisition to ensure smooth onboarding of respective metering types.
  • Identify opportunities for metering issue resolution and metering upgrade whether via AMR, Smart or HH.
  • Manage customer expectations through this journey.

Portfolio Management:

  • Delivering the Change of Agent Process for gas and power supply customers in line with our licenced supplier obligations.
  • Managing the Shell Energy processes which support the installation and upgrade of meters by our third-party partners, including customer agreed roll out programmes across multiple sites.
  • Knowledge in the management of complex B2B metering types including PC1 and PC2 Gas meters and HH electricity sites.
  • Accurately maintaining information within internal (Junifer & AFMS) and external systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of Industry flows to support meter upgrade, installation, or error resolution.

Business Performance:

  • Proactively monitor the operational quality of the Shell Energy metering portfolio to ensure optimal billing to actual read performance.
  • Demonstrating commercial awareness to support the wider operational delivery of the customer contract, protecting Shell Energy from exposure to loss.
  • Constructively review the performance of our third-party partners, to ensure delivery in line with contractual service level agreements, and challenge where required.
  • Applying Industry knowledge to resolve exceptions in agent appointments and meter technical details at a portfolio level, which will support a successful meter upgrade, installation, or error resolution.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Be the subject matter expert across our operational teams to drive metering performance levels within high value (>£5m per annum) Industrial and Commercial customer portfolios.
  • Engaging successfully with Industry Third Parties and B2B customers to facilitate metering resolution works to protect business profitability.
  • Responsible for the provision of weekly and monthly reporting to support delivery of business metering performance targets
  • Demonstrate awareness of industry developments and potential changes to Shell energy's opportunities and obligations in relation to B2B metering.

What you bring

  • Extensive knowledge of gas and power industry B2B metering processes
  • Prior experience of leading on metering performance for B2B supplier.
  • Experience of managing gas and power meter stakeholders including third party providers.
  • Experience working with Junifer and AFMS (ideal)
  • A team player and be able to build effective working relationship with internal & external colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Enthusiastic and self-driven, able to achieve deadlines.
