The team also plays an important role in Shell's ambition to be a winning investment case in the energy transition, with a focus on technological advancements in mobility and lubricants that drive performance, efficiency, and sustainability.

The combined lubricants and mobility innovation team is dedicated to pioneering innovative solutions by developing new scientific techniques and tools to understand and enhance lubricant and fuel performance, support product claims, and address complex industry challenges, while also researching means to improve product performance, efficiency, and emissions. In addition to supporting the transition to sustainable energy solutions such as in the e-mobility area.
Purpose of Role: The Technology Intern role is an industry placement student responsible for supporting projects in different areas of Mobility & Lubricants Technology from Innovation, Motorsports, Future Fuels to Information Management.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Data analysis and modelling to develop correlations between experimental results.
- Summarising data analysis and key conclusions to diverse global stakeholders in written reports and technical presentations.
Required Skills:
- Interpersonal skills: The intern will liaise with experts from an array of disciplines, including scientists, engineers, and marketers, so an enthusiastic, dynamic, and approachable manner is key. The intern will be part of a larger team of interns on industrial placement, therefore your ability to develop a dynamic and collaborative team environment is essential.
- Organisational skills and self-motivation: A conscientious individual who maintains rigorous attention to detail whilst having the organisational skills to balance the work of numerous projects. Enjoy tenaciously completing activities and documenting the results.
- Presentation and public-speaking skills: Confidently and concisely deliver information to the Mobility & Lubricants Technology community and to senior stakeholders of the business. Presentations are required regularly and will target audiences of various sizes and levels of seniority.
- Creativity and outside-the-box thinking: Projects will focus on idea creation and thus the intern will be responsible for developing the energy landscape of tomorrow. We are a supportive and collaborative community, so we welcome a brave, big-picture thinker to help us strive towards our goals.
- Learner Mindset: The intern will be keen to learn from their mistakes, embrace challenges and treat failure as an opportunity for growth. Failures are inevitable, but how we learn from our mistakes will determine our success in the role.
