Shell is seeking a dedicated and highly-driven graduate geoscientist to join our Exploration, Strategy and Portfolio team in London, UK. Be part of a global energy leader committed to driving sustainable solutions, where your passion for geoscience helps shape a future with cleaner energy.

As a Graduate Geoscientist in the EMEA region, you will play a key role in identifying new oil and gas exploration opportunities by analyzing geological and geophysical data. You’ll be responsible for turning early-stage ideas into viable drilling prospects, ensuring that all evaluations meet high technical and safety standards. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll help develop different geological scenarios and contribute to both the technical and commercial success of projects.

Your work will be used to support project decisions and transfer the information to the customer. You are expected to prepare the work for peer reviews, review technical information in data rooms, contribute to opportunity framing workshops. You are expected to have an external view and be well-aware of latest technological developments.

You will be expected to take on an active role in the sharing of best practices and you are expected to contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives. As you will often work in a small team you are required to be able to work independent with limited direct steer. The ability to quickly build networks and perform quick quality/sense checks with peers will help you to provide fit for purpose solutions.

Responsibilities and Requirements

WHO ARE YOU

  • You have a master\’s or PhD degree in Geology or Geophysics or related discipline
  • Willingness to develop Exploration/Development experience across the lifecycle of hydrocarbon maturation, including HSSE, project and operational delivery
  • Ability to integrate and to clearly communicate how multi-discipline and multi-source evaluations are integrated in support of a decision.
  • Demonstration of drive, enthusiasm and can-do attitude. An inspired learner and demonstrates genuine curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Proven team player who puts team above self.
  • Self-motivated, driven to set their own goals whilst feeling responsible for the delivery performance of all team members.
  • Excellent relationships skills to be further developed through both internal and external relationship management.
  • Encourages experimentation, failing fast and continuous improvement in pursuit of the team goal
  • Prioritizes agility and action over perfection and removes barriers to cross-team collaboration
