The Contracting & Procurement Specialist is responsible for the delivery of all Contracting & Procurement related activities in support of the Shell Southern North Sea upstream operations, covering the full End-to-End C&P cycle including all Requisition to Pay, Category Management and Contracting Process related activities. Your role is part of a pool of seasoned C&P professionals and brings a broad experience across various categories. You will support one of the assigned categories, supporting on-and offshore projects, turnarounds, logistics, and all Operations & Maintenance related scope. As the Contracting & Procurement Specialist, you can work autonomously and fulfil additional tasks including asset stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Contracting & Procurement Specialist in support of Shell Southern North Sea operations, maintenance and turnarounds.
  • Develop competitive contracting & procurement strategies for offshore and onshore related activities that meet business demand and targets, leveraging relevant category strategies at global, country (UK) or asset level, in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and vendors.
  • Conduct tenders, evaluate bids & drive negotiations with suppliers to deliver fit-for-purpose and competitive agreements in support of Shell Southern North Sea activities.
  • Actively manage contracts and maintain working relationships with suppliers, ensuring on-time, safe and quality delivery of services, materials or equipment.
  • Identify, develop & implement value improvement opportunities by combining supply chain, project and maintenance skills.
  • Follow, support and roll out the SEAM, RtP process and CMCP framework.
  • Where relevant, improve current procurement processes to drive simplification and transparency.
  • Support internal stakeholders on operational requirements and interact with external stakeholders to ensure OTIF (On time in Full) targets for all categories.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Ensure contracting strategies support Goal Zero aspiration through implementation of robust Contractor Safety Management practices aligned to Shell’s personal and process safety Goal Zero focus areas.
  • Proactively identify & understand procurement needs from internal and, where relevant, external stakeholders and collaboratively propose competitive solutions, challenging business demand and/or procurement practices to increase value and organisational efficiency.
  • Manage supplier relationships effectively and drive continuous performance improvement via relevant contract key metrics (e.g. Cost, HSSE, project delivery).
  • Build and maintain a strong network in the market, staying fully aware of supplier developments and opportunities.
  • Ensure strong connection across the wider SC organisation (e.g. Global category support, other SC teams) to share best practices and leverage knowledge.
  • Build effective working relationships within the immediate team, support and coach peers, and comply with E2E CMCP and RtP processes using commercial judgement and a simplification mindset.
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working in an Agile @ Scale organisation is preferred.
  • Education: a degree level (Business/Engineering) and/or proven long-term comprehensive experience within a commercial role.
  • Proven track record of execution excellence & delivering results.
  • MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or APICS Qualification is an advantage, but not mandatory.
  • Experience within Upstream Oil and Gas is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in Project Management and CP project environment, with exposure to industrial execution activities (e.g. facilities maintenance, modification projects).

Commercial

  • Highly tuned commercial acumen and curiosity with demonstrated ability to develop and deliver value from complex deals.
  • Proven experience in negotiations & complex commercial/technical evaluations.
  • Good understanding of strategic, technical, legal, finance, taxation and commercial issues.
  • Good understanding of RtP and CMCP processes and systems, e.g. Agiloft, Ariba, SAP.
