Leicester City Council are looking for an experienced Level 3 Social Worker to join their Front Door / MASH & Assessment Service. This is a fast-paced, high-volume team managing all incoming referrals to the local authority, as well as responding to out-of-hours issues as part of a structured rota. You will be working closely with partner agencies, screening referrals, gathering information quickly and making timely decisions to safeguard children. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Front Door service with strong leadership and a supportive culture.

What You Can Expect:

  • Front Door / MASH environment dealing with all referrals into Children’s Services
  • 24/7 rota system covering out-of-hours issues (phone-based decision making)
  • 2–3 days per week office presence, with flexibility outside rota times
  • Most work completed via phone, with occasional urgent visits in Leicester when on rota
  • Supportive team structure with clear processes and strong multi-agency links

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screening and triaging all incoming referrals to ensure timely and appropriate responses
  • Managing safeguarding concerns, assessing levels of risk and determining next steps
  • Completing information gathering, checks, and multi-agency discussions
  • Providing out-of-hours decision-making and guidance as part of the rota system
  • Undertaking urgent visits locally when required (short notice response)
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and complying with statutory guidance
  • Working effectively with Police, Health, Education and wider partners to safeguard children

Requirements:

  • SWE Registration
  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent)
  • Strong post-qualified experience within Front Door, MASH or Duty & Assessment
  • Confident decision maker with excellent risk assessment skills
  • Experience working within multi-agency safeguarding frameworks
  • Ability to work as part of a rota system including out-of-hours cover
  • Flexible, proactive and able to respond quickly when needed
