Sheldon Phillips is working with Cambridgeshire County Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker for the Family Safeguarding Team based at Fawcett House, Trumpington. This role is ideal for a qualified social worker with strong experience in statutory children’s services, ready to make a difference to children and families across Cambridge.

About the Role

As a Family Safeguarding Social Worker, you will:

Complete statutory visits for Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Children in Care (CIC).

Chair CIN and Core Group meetings.

Hold a varied caseload of CIN, CP and CIC cases, including some within Public Law Outline (PLO) or Section 31 Care Proceedings.

Prepare Court Reports, risk assessments and parenting assessments, and attend court with the support of a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager.

Support the team duty rota as required.

Attend Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC) and Review Child Protection Conferences (RCPC), and write conference reports.

Manage and assess risk to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2-3 years post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services.

Social Work England registration.

Experience working with CIN, CP and CIC cases, including court work.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (including passenger cover).

Current, in-date DBS at the interview stage.

Working Arrangements

Hybrid working – 2-3 days per week in the office at Fawcett House, Trumpington.

£38 per hour (umbrella).
