We are working with The Fostering Company, part of the Five Rivers Child Care Group, to recruit a Supervising Social Worker to join their established team in Newcastle. Role Overview

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will support foster carers across the Northeast, ensuring they are equipped to provide safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and young people. You will hold a realistic and manageable caseload, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality supervision and meaningful support. You will work within a trauma-informed and therapeutic practice model, supported by access to clinical expertise and structured supervision. The role offers flexibility in how you manage your time, alongside strong organisational support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a caseload of foster carers across the region
  • Provide regular supervision, guidance, and support to carers
  • Complete Form F Assessments where required
  • Promote and embed trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
  • Participate in recruitment and assessment of foster carers
  • Support children and young people through participation and engagement activities
  • Contribute to the out-of-hours support rota
  • Maintain accurate records using the CHARMS system
  • Work collaboratively with internal clinical, education, and residential services

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work qualification
  • Experience within fostering or children’s services preferred
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice
  • Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships
  • Good written and IT skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK
