We are working with The Fostering Company, part of the Five Rivers Child Care Group, to recruit a Supervising Social Worker to join their established team in Newcastle. Role Overview
As a Supervising Social Worker, you will support foster carers across the Northeast, ensuring they are equipped to provide safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and young people. You will hold a realistic and manageable caseload, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality supervision and meaningful support. You will work within a trauma-informed and therapeutic practice model, supported by access to clinical expertise and structured supervision. The role offers flexibility in how you manage your time, alongside strong organisational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a caseload of foster carers across the region
- Provide regular supervision, guidance, and support to carers
- Complete Form F Assessments where required
- Promote and embed trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
- Participate in recruitment and assessment of foster carers
- Support children and young people through participation and engagement activities
- Contribute to the out-of-hours support rota
- Maintain accurate records using the CHARMS system
- Work collaboratively with internal clinical, education, and residential services

Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work qualification
- Experience within fostering or children’s services preferred
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice
- Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships
- Good written and IT skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
