Herefordshire Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Children with Disabilities Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an improving local authority, contributing to a restorative and relationship-based model of practice that delivers positive outcomes for children and families.
Working across the child’s journey, you will support the team in delivering high-quality assessments, safeguarding interventions, and care planning, while also providing supervisory support to Social Workers.
In this role, you will:
- Support and supervise Social Workers within the Children with Disabilities team
- Manage a complex caseload including assessment, Child Protection, and court work
- Undertake and oversee short break assessments and care planning
- Promote a relationship-based and restorative approach to practice
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children
- Contribute to service improvement and practice development
- Ensure high-quality reports, assessments, and case recordings
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent)
- At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in statutory children’s social care
- Strong experience within Children with Disabilities services
- Experience supporting or supervising other social workers
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills
What You Can Expect:
- Competitive rate of £33.30 per hour
- 45p per mile business mileage
- Up to £150 per week accommodation allowance
- Full-time (37 hours per week)
- Initial 3-month contract with potential extension
- Opportunity to contribute to a service on an improvement journey
