Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join Child Assessment Team 2. This is a frontline statutory role focused on safeguarding children, completing high-quality assessments, and delivering effective interventions for children and families.

The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload within a fast-paced assessment service, working closely with multi-agency partners to ensure children receive timely and effective support.

Working Pattern:

  • 2 days per week in the office
  • Hybrid working arrangement

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a complex caseload of children and families
  • Undertake Child and Family Assessments
  • Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries
  • Lead Child Protection investigations and safeguarding interventions
  • Prepare reports and applications for court proceedings
  • Develop and review Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children plans
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality case recordings
  • Attend and contribute to conferences, reviews, panels, and legal meetings
  • Promote relationship-based and evidence-informed practice

What You’ll Need:

  • Social Work England Registration
  • Social Work Qualification
  • At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
  • Recent experience within an Assessment Team
  • Strong safeguarding, court work, and assessment experience
  • Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
