Bromley Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Referral & Assessment Service. This is a fast-paced frontline role focused on undertaking Child and Family Assessments, identifying risk, and ensuring children and families receive the right support at the earliest opportunity.
The Referral & Assessment Teams receive all new referrals from the Bromley MASH and complete statutory assessments to determine the most appropriate interventions for children and families. The service consists of seven teams, each made up of a Team Manager and five Social Workers.
Working Pattern:
- Minimum 3 days per week in the office
- Hybrid working arrangement
- Duty week on a rotational basis (1 week in every 7 weeks) during which new allocations are received
In this role, you will:
- Undertake Child and Family Assessments
- Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries
- Manage a complex caseload within a referral and assessment setting
- Assess risk and develop outcome-focused care plans
- Lead and participate in strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings
- Work directly with children and families to promote positive change
- Support and mentor less experienced Social Workers
- Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings
- Make informed recommendations regarding thresholds and next steps for children and families
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
- Strong experience within Referral & Assessment, Duty, or Front Door services
- Confidence managing complex safeguarding and high-risk cases
- Ability to support and guide colleagues
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week
