Sheldon Phillips are working with Blackpool Council to recruit a Senior Social Worker to join their 0-Infant Team within the Families Safeguarding Service. This is a specialist team focused on the earliest stages of a child's life, offering a unique opportunity to lead high-impact social work and help shape the start of a child’s journey.
This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in pre-birth assessment, child protection, complex CIN work, and PLO/court proceedings. As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll also play a key part in mentoring less experienced colleagues, modelling reflective and strengths-based practice, and supporting the Team Manager in driving quality across the service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Undertake pre-birth assessments, including those under S17 and S47
-
Manage complex CIN and CP cases with a clear, child-centred focus

Work within the Public Law Outline and contribute to care proceedings

Prepare high-quality court reports and safeguarding assessments
-
Support the Team Manager in quality assurance, mentoring, and reflective practice
-
Offer guidance and coaching to less experienced colleagues, modelling best practice
-
Work closely with families using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach

Build trusted relationships that support sustained change

Promote Blackpool’s values of working with families, not doing to them
Requirements:

Social Work England (SWE) Registration

Recognised Social Work qualification

Significant experience in pre-birth, safeguarding and/or court work
