Wigan Council are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding service on an agency basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a progressive and well-regarded model that focuses on keeping families together through targeted, multi-disciplinary interventions. You will be part of a service that prioritises relationship-based practice, working closely with families to reduce risk and create sustainable change, while ensuring children remain safe.
As a Social Worker within the Family Safeguarding team, you will work with children subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans, supporting families through structured interventions aimed at reducing risk and preventing escalation. The service uses a strengths-based, collaborative approach, working alongside specialist professionals such as domestic abuse workers, substance misuse practitioners, and mental health specialists to deliver holistic support to families.
- Manage a caseload of children and families subject to CIN and CP plans
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, including Section 47 enquiries where required
- Develop and implement outcome-focused care plans
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary professionals to deliver coordinated interventions
