Duties and responsibilities:
- Assemble and fabricate metal structures and equipment
- Perform MIG welding on various types of metals
- Utilise power tools and hand tools effectively
- Follow health and safety guidance to keep yourself and others safe
- Working from technical drawings
- Quality checking welds to ensure a clean finish
- Carrying out jig work for precise fabrication
- Prepping metal components for welding
- Clean and inspect welding equipment and tools often, reporting any faults
- Operate cranes and other machinery to transport materials to welding worksites and other departments
- Determine correct gas ratios
- Identify any non-conforming parts or errors and report immediately to your supervisor
