Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assemble and fabricate metal structures and equipment
  • Perform MIG welding on various types of metals
  • Utilise power tools and hand tools effectively
  • Follow health and safety guidance to keep yourself and others safe
  • Working from technical drawings
  • Quality checking welds to ensure a clean finish
  • Carrying out jig work for precise fabrication
  • Prepping metal components for welding
  • Clean and inspect welding equipment and tools often, reporting any faults
  • Operate cranes and other machinery to transport materials to welding worksites and other departments
  • Determine correct gas ratios
  • Identify any non-conforming parts or errors and report immediately to your supervisor
