Hours of work: Two shift patterns are available:

  • Shift 1: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm plus Saturday 9:00am - 1:00pm (one in every 4)
  • Shift 2: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm plus Saturday 9:00am - 1:00pm (one in every 4)

As a Diagnostic Technician, you will be responsible for accurately diagnosing and repairing a wide range of mechanical and electrical faults on customers’ cars. You must ensure a fantastic standard of work and aim for a first‑time fix every time. This position offers ongoing training and the opportunity to develop skills in the Nissan environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components and diagnose issues accurately using computer‑based diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace broken or defective parts and confirm that defects have been resolved.
  • Train other team members in various diagnostic and repair methods.
  • Liaise with the Nissan vehicle manufacturer and customers to communicate faults and required repairs.
  • Record test results and findings, maintaining records to manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist in workshop planning and pre‑diagnosis of vehicle faults, including speculative ordering of parts to ensure first‑time fixes.
  • Road‑test vehicles to verify repairs.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and proven experience with a leading vehicle manufacturer, achieving Diagnostic Level.
  • Ability to work efficiently both as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to follow checklists and ensure all procedures are completed.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with manufacturers and customers.
  • Understanding of great customer service.
  • Full UK driving licence.
