Shelbourne Motors is a leading automotive group in Northern Ireland, located in Portadown.

The Accounts Assistant role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the finance function. The holder performs essential administrative support to senior accounts, managing credit control, reconciling ledgers, logging invoices, banking tasks, handling cash, and general office duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing credit control for sales and purchases
  • Reconciling nominal ledgers accurately on a weekly basis
  • Maintaining the sales ledger and banking transactions daily
  • Finalising nominal ledgers by the 10th month for the Group Balance Sheet Review
  • Executing monthly payments through the system
  • Recording and logging all invoices onto the accounts IT system promptly
  • Handling bank reconciliations and lodgements
  • Managing receipt and handling of all cash
  • Performing general administrative duties such as opening, sorting, and distributing post
Essential Criteria
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant role
  • Ability to process information accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel
  • Experience with an accounts computerised system
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification, ideally IATI-qualified
  • Experience in a similar role within the automotive industry
  • Working knowledge of the Keyloop computerised system
Working Hours

Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:30pm; Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm (40 hours per week).

Salary & Benefits

£28,000 per annum. Benefits: 30 days holiday (increasing with length of service), free employer car parking, employer pension contributions, staff preferential vehicle purchase schemes.
