Group Used Car Buyer

Key Responsibilities
Stock Sourcing & Purchasing:
- Source and purchase high-quality used vehicle stock aligned with our retail standards and strategy goals.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of incoming stock to ensure continuous availability and replenishment.
- Organise and track collection and deliveries of used vehicle stock purchased.
- Underwrite vehicles where required.
- Build strong relationships with trusted suppliers.
- Liaise with auction for disposal of all trade vehicles.
Stock Management:
- Manage used car stock levels across both Portadown and Newry sites to ensure optimum availability.
- Achieve and maintain the target of 12x stock turn annually.
- Monitor days to forecourt and take necessary action to reduce time to sale-ready condition.
- Act promptly to dispose of overage vehicles in line with company policy.
Advertising & Pricing:
- Ensure all used car listings on our online forecourt including Group website & third-party sites are maintained to a high standard, including accurate descriptions, images, pricing, attention grabbers, alerts and market positioning.
- Regularly review vehicle pricing to remain competitive and in line with our pricing strategy & goals.
Quality & Retail Standards:
- Uphold the highest standards of quality; only high-grade vehicles suitable for retail should be purchased.
- Review and control vehicle reconditioning costs and recover expenses where applicable.
Team Coaching & Appraisals:
- Coach and support the sales teams and managers to improve appraisal accuracy and part-exchange valuations.
- Collaborate with site managers to ensure stock presentation and preparation standards are consistently met.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in used car buying and stock management within the motor industry.
- Proven ability to achieve high stock turn and maintain healthy pipeline stock levels.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle valuation, market pricing trends, and reconditioning processes.
- Ability to coach and influence teams to improve appraisal standards and operational efficiency.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a strong network of vehicle suppliers.
- Organised, commercially minded, and results-driven with strong attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
