We’re looking for a qualified chef or trainee chef to join our incredible team at The Kirk Café in Tankerness, Orkney. The successful applicant will assist our chefs and kitchen team in the provision of high-quality customer meals within a clean and safe working environment. You will assist in the smooth running of all areas of the Kirk Café kitchen. This permanent position would suit a qualified chef with industry experience, but we are also happy to support and encourage a talented individual who is keen to learn on the job. Full training provided.

The ideal candidate will be able to work 4-5 days per week (typically 9am-5pm), working weekends on a rota basis.

  • A passion for cooking and a desire to provide a quality experience for customers
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated, taking pride in work done
  • Ability to adapt to challenges as they arise
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Experience working as part of a team in a kitchen environment
  • Experience in customer service and hospitality
  • An understanding of food hygiene and safety, HACCP and safe working practices
  • Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate
  • Any vocational hospitality qualifications
