We are seeking a highly motivated and multidisciplinary Environmental Data Analyst with expertise in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cybersecurity to support our environmental research labs. In this hybrid technical and scientific role, you will work closely with environmental scientists and IT professionals to collect, process, analyze, and protect critical environmental data. You will apply machine learning to uncover trends, support lab experiments with real‐time data systems, and ensure that all digital data infrastructures comply with cybersecurity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lab & Environmental Data Support
- Assist researchers in collecting data from environmental monitoring devices (air, water, soil sensors).
- Manage and maintain lab instrumentation and field equipment, including IoT‐based sensor systems.
- Organize and document experiment data using standardized lab protocols.
- Data Science & AI
- Preprocess, clean, and manage large environmental datasets using Python or R.
- Develop and deploy AI/ML models to support analysis such as climate and pollution forecasting, ecosystem pattern recognition, and biodiversity and deforestation monitoring.
- Create interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports to communicate insights to non‐technical stakeholders.
- Cybersecurity & Data Governance
- Ensure the security and integrity of research data using encryption, access control, and secure storage solutions.
- Implement cybersecurity best practices for lab systems, IoT devices, and cloud‐based data platforms.
- Collaborate with IT/security teams to monitor systems and resolve vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical role involving data analysis or lab support.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and machine learning.
- Understanding of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit‐learn, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, tools, and technologies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IoT devices and sensor networks (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, MQTT).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data pipelines.
- Knowledge of GIS or remote sensing tools.
