We are seeking to appoint a flexible, dynamic and hardworking Facilities Operative to complement the existing team at Sheffield Springs Academy.

This role requires a focused individual who is organised and enthusiastic about making a difference for our school and local community.

The post-holder will have excellent building fabric and/or mechanical/plumbing knowledge and experience in a busy facilities environment/background.

Main duties will include carrying out routine planned and reactive maintenance (internal and external).

Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) inspections and addressing/assisting with the service and testing of alarms and recording/monitoring while fully utilising the academy’s computerised helpdesk reporting system.

To support in providing a clean, safe and secure working and learning environment.

Overtime at weekends may also be available when business need arises.

Experience and knowledge are crucial in this role as it can be physically demanding at times.

Candidates must have good organisational and communication skills, be self‑motivated and a team player.

  • Reliable, highly motivated and self‑driven.
  • Experienced with an excellent knowledge and understanding in a busy facilities environment/background.
  • Keen on attention to detail, has high standards and takes pride in their work, ensuring accuracy in record keeping/reporting.
  • Keen to be part of a collaborative team of staff in our cluster of schools.
  • A team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible to support various events happening during opening and out of hours.
  • Someone with excellent building fabric and/or mechanical/publishing maintenance and practical skills and understanding.
