Equality Diversity and Inclusion Manager

Sheffield United Football Club is looking for a highly motivated, progressive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager to champion the club’s passion for EDI.

Role Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for effective ED&I communication within and across the club, producing and recommending actions required to achieve the aims of the ED&I strategy.
  • Demonstrate the club commitment to equality at the highest level and communicate this to all supporters, staff and stakeholders.
  • Develop and continuously review the club Equality Policy in line with activity or changes to legislation and any other policies relevant to the ED&I work.
  • Produce an Equality Action Plan in partnership with the Community Foundation and any other stakeholders for all areas of the club.
  • Undertake equality monitoring of all staff, players, supporters, review the data and identify key trends and priority areas of work.
  • Provide clear guidelines for reporting and managing incidents of discrimination, harassment or abuse.
  • Build relationships with local under‑represented communities and individuals.
  • Implement and regularly review the Equality Action Plan.
  • Identify actions that will work towards increasing the diversity of the club fan base and employees.
  • Determine how to use Equality Impact Assessments to support the successful implementation of new policies and initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate training and/or briefings to all staff and key personnel associated with the club.
  • Demonstrate good practice in addressing under‑representation across all levels and areas of activity and measure the effectiveness of this through Equality Impact Assessments.
  • Provide expertise and be a point of contact for support and guidance on a range of diversity and inclusion matters.
  • Pro‑actively review and recommend new opportunities with key stakeholders/departments to further support the success of our ED&I objectives, such as new job boards, training, policies and external working groups.

Club Wide Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Sheffield United Football Club's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures to foster an environment which protects those defined as children and adults at risk.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the relevant parties and remain fully compliant with any applicable safeguarding checks and due diligence.
  • Report any discrimination concerns to the relevant parties and promote a welcoming and inclusive club environment for all.
  • Adhere to the club's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies, supporting the club to create an inclusive and all‑encompassing environment.
  • Carry out and actively participate in all training requests as directed by the club, including mandatory health and safety training, emergency procedures, fire safety, manual handling, safeguarding and role‑specific safety instruction.
  • Any other reasonable requests directed by management.

Essential Criteria For The Role

  • A solid understanding of the Equality Act 2010.
  • Ability to network and build relationships in a variety of areas.
  • Experience working at a strategic level.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to extract and understand data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate.
  • Ability to champion ED&I issues and challenge appropriately.
  • Report writing skills.Ability to work to deadlines and to prioritise workload.

Desirable Criteria For The Role

  • Experience of delivering training.
  • Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion and how it relates to the football industry.
  • A relevant Degree or professional qualification (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, CIPD).
