Sheffield United Football Club are seeking an organised, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Academy team. The Kitchen Assistant will support the Academy Kitchen Staff in providing nutritious and wholesome meals to both players and staff. The successful candidate will ideally possess a passion for healthy food and demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, while adhering to strict food safety and hygiene regulations. As a result, experience in a kitchen environment is essential, along with a strong understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
Role Responsibilities
- Properly cleaning and sanitising all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
- Preparing food when required, which includes washing, peeling, chopping fruit and vegetables.
- Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards and dishes.
- Ensuring that all food produce is stored in line with legislation, with a strong understanding of appropriate temperatures.
- Supporting the cleanliness of the work environment, sweeping, and mopping the kitchen floors regularly as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
- Taking responsibility for discarding waste and rubbish from the kitchen where required.
- Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies, then storing appropriately.
- Organising and correctly storing food supplies.
- Assisting with stock rotation to prevent wastage.
- Holding an awareness of special dietary requirements which may need to be considered within a kitchen environment.
- Maintain a sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
- Ensuring that any chemicals utilised within the kitchen are correctly and safely stored in line with COSHH Regulations.
- Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.
