Sheffield United Academy seeks dedicated host families to provide comfortable and supportive homes for our young professional football apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support for young players, subject to an Enhanced criminal record check.
  • Provision of accommodation for a full season for signed scholars and ad hoc weeks for trialists; may be required 7 days per week dependent on players' home address.
  • Provide an appropriate level of supervision and support based on the player’s age.
  • Ensure each player has a semi‑furnished room with bed, storage and access to laundry facilities from Monday to Friday.
  • Provide nutritious breakfast, evening meal and/or lunch/snacks as required, with nutritional guidance provided by the Club.
  • Provide Wi‑Fi access.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures for players under 18 and report any safeguarding or discrimination concerns.
  • Attend meetings as required to support the players.
  • Notify the Club in the event of any incident impacting suitability to supervise children, young or vulnerable adults.
  • Allow premises to be risk‑assessed/audited by the Club’s Health and Safety Manager and comply with any subsequent actions.
  • Participate in training as directed by the Club.

Additional Requirements

  • Post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; applicant must disclose all convictions, including spent convictions.
  • Two written references required.
  • Legal right to work in the UK must be verified before commencing work.
