We are looking to appoint to a 0.9 WTE Consultant in Neonatology in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Jessop Wing of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.

The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a Comprehensive neonatal Service. The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.

The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC with a valid licence to practice. You will also have completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT date within six months of the date of interview. Qualifications

  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise.
  • Name on the specialist register for Neonatology or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. Equivalent training will be considered.
  • If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • MRCPCH Postgraduate professional qualification or equivalent.

Clinical Experience

  • Ability to work as an independent practitioner in neonatal Intensive Care.
  • Possess broad clinical experience in Neonatology within the UK.
  • Ability to undertake Point of Care cardiac assessment.

Research

  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate.
  • Experience of patient recruitment to national clinical trials.

Teaching and Training

  • Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels.
  • To have the ability and willingness to teach at all levels and to all groups of staff.

Management and Administration

  • Evidence of the understanding of the systems and structures of NHS Management.

Personal Attributes

  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of experience of working as part of a multi-professional team.
  • Ensures value for money is considered in all that they do.

Clinical Governance and Audit

  • Experience in performing clinical audit.
