Overview: Sheffield Park Academy are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Mathematics. The role of 'Director' is recognition of the role people leading core subjects play and the fact that they are responsible for the qualifications and outcomes of whole cohorts. Our academy character values are Community, Ambition, Respect, and Endurance. You will need to embody and role‑model these to our students. Our mission is to create Sheffield's influential young leaders of tomorrow. The academy is part of United Learning, a national group of schools and academies, and is Ofsted rated 'Good'. Sheffield Park Academy is an 11‑18 school with over 1,200 pupils situated in purpose‑built £30 million premises. Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of mathematics teachers and ensure excellent outcomes for young people.
- Oversee the qualifications and outcomes of whole cohorts, including the Year 10 cohort from September 2026.
- Play a key role in maintaining high levels of attendance to give students the best chance of success.
- Be responsible for safeguarding within education, keeping up to date with local and national safeguarding developments, and liaising with internal and external agencies.
- Work alongside families to report, monitor and support students.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong and effective leader of mathematics, ideally with experience as a Head of Maths or a proven ability to step into this role.
- Understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational needs of children and young people.
- Commitment to significantly improving the life chances of young people.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Team player with attention to detail, organisational skills and punctuality.
- Good IT skills and ability to adapt to a changing workload with resilience.
- Adopt a positive, proactive and professional approach at all times.
