As Human Resources and Payroll Manager, you will work closely with the Director of Finance and Resources to contribute to and deliver Sheffield Museums Trust’s strategic plan. You will provide high-quality operational HR support across all people-related matters, offering advice, guidance, and challenge to managers and staff where appropriate. You will take responsibility for managing the entire recruitment process and ensuring the provision of an efficient, compliant HR and Payroll function for both internal and external stakeholders, meeting all statutory obligations.
Key responsibilities:
- Acting as the first point of contact for all staff regarding HR and Payroll matters.
- Supporting senior managers in maintaining and developing a positive organisational culture.
- Reviewing and updating the Trust’s policies and procedures in line with the Employment Rights Bill and any future legislative changes.
- Ensuring HR records and data are accurate and up to date, enabling timely reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in providing HR advice and guidance to managers and staff.
- Strong background in supporting and delivering internal payroll services, with thorough knowledge of payroll processes and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience working with HR and payroll systems, including administrative user functions.
- Demonstrated experience in line management and team leadership.
- Familiarity with working in a unionised environment.
- Commitment to delivering an excellent, visitor-focused experience.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively within available resources.
- Strong planning and organisational skills to prioritise workloads in line with Trust objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of employment legislation.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas and data analysis.
