Lead the Training and Development of pharmacy staff as part of the pharmacy service to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines throughout the Trust. Contribute to an efficient and accurate pharmacy service to Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Trust.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the day-to-day operation of the dispensary.
- Working confidently with service users, carers, and healthcare staff to ensure safety with medicines.
- Performing duties under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, and Senior Pharmacy Technician.
- Leading training and development of new starters in the pharmacy department.
- Developing and updating training packages in line with pharmacy needs.
- Evaluating staff progression and providing feedback.
- Assisting in the training, development, and mentorship of apprentice ATOs and technicians.
- Coordinating training for pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff on the use of the EPMA system.
- Maintaining knowledge of dispensary systems to support senior technicians with daily operations.
- Providing cover for other Lead Pharmacy Technicians.
- Participating in the safe and efficient dispensing and supply of medication.
- Supervising and mentoring staff.
- Planning and implementing education sessions for pharmacy staff.
- Assisting in relevant audits.
- Promoting the professional image of the pharmacy by ensuring standards of dress and behaviour reflect the professional service provided.
- Participating in annual personal development reviews and agreeing to training objectives.
- Maintaining continued professional development (CPD) as required by the GPhC.
- Complying with trust policies including confidentiality, personal and patient safety.
