Overview

The need to establish strong and effective links with schools and colleges, both locally and nationally, underpins the work of the Student Recruitment Outreach and Engagement Team and is essential in supporting the University achieve its recruitment aspirations both in the short and long term.

We are looking for an experienced and creative member of staff to join our Student Recruitment Outreach and Engagement Team to work in school and colleges engagement in target regions across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Be one of two Student Recruitment Engagement Managers leading and motivating a diverse team of staff responsible for managing relationships with school, colleges and third-party providers, both locally and in designated and targeted geographic regions across the country.
  • Deliver engagement activities within schools and colleges and at the University that meet the needs and objectives of each academic college and Sheffield Hallam.
  • Attend third party events, such as national student recruitment conventions, held throughout the country.
  • Work with colleagues from across the institution, in particular colleagues from professional services, to deliver an engagement offer for pre-applicant students that is innovative, effective, and fit for purpose, ensuring it meets the institution’s recruitment and access objectives.
  • Be an active member of the wider Student Recruitment and Access management team, ensuring the service meets the expectations set out in its operational plan.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to raising aspirations and awareness, and in highlighting opportunities available at university to prospective students and key influencers, particularly at Sheffield Hallam University. This will include working with teachers, advisors, and parents/carers.
  • Be an excellent communicator who is confident speaking to small and large groups of students and with senior staff from schools or colleges.
  • Travel occasionally and be willing to work occasional evenings; travel independently around the country as required. Note: applicants will be provided with hire cars to fulfil the requirements of the role, which may involve driving at night and on motorways.

  • You will be offered this post subject to an enhanced DBS check with barred lists. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University, but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before appointment.
