CENTRIC is currently seeking to appoint a researcher with demonstrable qualitative and/or quantitative research experience in the security domain to support activities across a variety of CENTRIC projects. The role will require flexibility and an interest in areas such as the use and impacts of artificial intelligence and other technologies by law enforcement, citizen and law enforcement perceptions and how these can inform future operational and policy decisions.

The successful applicant will work across a range of CENTRIC projects including ENSEMBLE and IAMI as well as other funded projects as required. The role will require flexibility and a willingness to develop your expertise in a range of areas in the security domain with additional knowledge of areas such as digital criminal investigations, law, ethics, and data protection being of significant benefit.

Knowledge of areas such as open-source intelligence, digital criminal investigations and relevant aspects of ethics and data protection are not a must but would be of significant benefit.

In this role you will develop strong links with universities, law enforcement agencies, intergovernmental organisations, and industry, and the opportunity to work closely with researchers and practitioners with a wide range of technical expertise.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment. You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined-benefit pension schemes in the country. Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/57th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 29% of your salary).

Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.
