Overview
In this role you lead the HR and Organisational Development function at Sheffield Hallam University, shaping workforce strategy, culture and organisational capability. You will sit on the Executive Board and influence institution-wide strategy, planning and decision-making, ensuring people considerations are central. You will drive organisational design, leadership capability and employee relations during a period of change. This is a visibility-driven, collaborative leadership position with a strong public-purpose mission to transform lives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the HR and Organisational Development Directorate and its services
- shape workforce strategy and planning
- drive organisational development and leadership capability
- manage employee and industrial relations, unions and change processes
- oversee resourcing, reward, people policy, payroll, pensions and HR administration
- develop an effective, trusted HR service aligned to academic and operational priorities
- advise at executive and Board level on people strategy and performance
- align people strategy with organisational performance and financial sustainability
Key requirements
- substantial senior HR leadership experience in a large, complex, and unionised organisation
- experience in leading people strategy, organisational change and delivery of high-quality HR/OD services
- strong background in employee relations, workforce transformation and executive/Board advisory experience
- ability to build trust and influence across professional boundaries and connect people strategy with organisational performance and financial sustainability
