The role

As our Asbestos and Property Risk Manager, you\'ll take the lead in managing asbestos across a complex and varied estate - this is the core focus of the role. You\'ll also oversee other property-related risks, such as confined spaces and radon, ensuring robust compliance and safe systems of work. A key part of your responsibility will be ensuring full compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and relevant HSE guidance, while shaping policy, influencing strategic decisions, and delivering practical solutions that keep our campus safe and operational. If you\'re passionate about compliance and want to make a real impact, this is the role for you.

The team

You\'ll join our Infrastructure & Compliance team, within the Estates & Facilities Directorate, a collaborative and forward-thinking team dedicated to maintaining a safe, secure, and sustainable campus. We work closely across disciplines to tackle complex compliance challenges and deliver continuous improvement. Your knowledge and leadership will be central to supporting the university\'s long-term maintenance strategy and driving best practice in building safety.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.

Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/49th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 22% of your salary). For a starting salary of £35,000, for example, the University would pay just over £7,600 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of £714 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
