The role of Research Funding Manager will be to lead research grant development, providing specialist funding advice to drive research quality, ambition, capacity, and grant income. This role will contribute to the University’s Research and Innovation KPIs, particularly in securing external funding for our research.
You will provide hands-on support to develop strategic applications and embed good practice in research grant development. Working closely with academic and professional service colleagues to manage research activity, supporting the delivery of a high-quality pre-award service.
You should have excellent organisational skills, along with strong editing and numeracy abilities. Knowledge of the research funding environment in which universities work is desirable, together with the interpersonal and communications skills needed to work effectively with the University\’s academic staff and with external organisations funding the research.
The Research Grants Funding Team provides strategic pre-award research funding support across UK, European and international funding streams. The team works in partnership with academic colleagues, other university services including Finance and Legal, as well as external collaborators and funders, The role ensures operational excellence and consistency of practice to drive strategic bids of scale responding to challenge-led strategies from Government, funders and policy makers.
