Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic steel production and engineering company. A global leader in the designing, manufacturing and delivering of world-class steel forgings and castings. It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence in 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work, our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

This role will involve leading and supporting, both strategically and technically, the machine shops to deliver customers' products, to quality, budget and schedule.

Role Responsibilities
  • Work with the Production Manager, and their team, to ensure products are progressed through the machine shops in the most efficient manner.
  • Drive continuous improvement programmes that are aligned with the business needs.
  • The manufacturing engineering strategy and its implementation.
  • Work closely with Quality to ensure our QMS is aligned to industry best practice.
  • Ensuring that new products and processes are introduced in a controlled manner.
  • Aligning the team to value streams, products and customer requirements.
  • Working with the Re-Cap team to ensure that we are ready for the new machine shop.
  • Setting the performance criteria and management of it for the people within the team.
About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required:

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Proven skills in manufacturing engineering techniques.
  • Expertise in both low and high-volume manufacturing processes and methodologies.
  • Previous experience leading continuous improvement programmes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven expertise in new product and process introduction.
  • Experience of CAD/CAM and PLM systems.
  • Ability to analyse data, make recommendations and report findings.
Days/Hours of Work

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00.
