Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic steel production and engineering company. A global leader in the designing, manufacturing and delivering of world-class steel forgings and castings. It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence in 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work, our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

This role will involve working as part of the Early Careers Team, delivering the future skill requirements of the business, by driving recruitment and development activity for apprentices, graduates & work experience.

Role Responsibilities
  • Contribute to an Early Careers Plan to create a continuous pipeline of talent coming into the business to support the business strategy.
  • Conduct the annual recruitment process for apprentices, graduates and interns, including all onboarding and induction activities.
  • Work with other members of the HR team and STEM Ambassadors to deliver an annual programme of career and recruitment fairs.
  • Work closely with Line Managers, to ensure they have the information, support and guidance required to manage Apprentices, Interns and Graduates within their teams.
  • Facilitate all elements of the early careers mentoring programme; ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.
  • Coordinate an annual programme of work placement opportunities across the business.
  • Identify, procure and build strong working relationships with suitable apprenticeship training providers.
  • Organise a programme of annual awards internally and externally to promote SF as an Employer of Choice.
About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required:

  • CIPD level 3 qualification or an equivalent L&D-related qualification.
  • Experience managing early career programmes such as work placement, internships, graduate, apprentice and work experience programmes.
  • Experience of working with training providers to provide appropriate qualifications and end point assessments.
  • Experience of mentoring, guiding and training others.
  • A genuine interest in working with early careers talent, to mentor and guide them.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems, specifically MS Office suite.
Days/Hours of Work

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00.
