It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.
Basedat our 64 acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a CNC Machinist. This role will involve undertakingall aspects of machining to meet the business needs including milling, grinding, turning and boring.
Role Responsibilities
- Operating and programming CNC machine tools.
- Working to complex engineering drawings.
- Machining large high value forging and castings up to 20tonnes in weight.
- Working to the company’s various quality procedures and documents.
- Displaying a flexible, positive and adaptable attitude to work and the production environment.
- Slinging and the manoeuvring of large components to facilitate machining operations.
- Experience of 6S to maintain the SFELstandards.
- Excellent appreciation of Health & Safety at work requirements
About You
- Apprenticeship trained or relevant experience.
- Experienced in using CNC Milling machines.
- Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of modern-day tooling.
- Full understanding of Health & Safety and the ability to work safely.
- Experience of following and filling out quality documentation.
- Ability to understand and follow CNC programs.
- Previous experience of operating a machine in a heavy engineering environment
Days/Hours of Work
Average of 37.5 hours per week: Mornings: 6:00am - 2:30pm Mon - Thurs, Friday 6:00am - 12:00pm. Nights: 8:00pm - 6:00am Mon - Thu
