Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic steel production and engineering company. A global leader in the designing, manufacturing and delivering of world-class steel forgings and castings. It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence in 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work, our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues. Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Foundry Moulder / Core Maker. This role will involve planning and producing cores and moulds safely, following standardised methods and process drawings.
Role Responsibilities:
- Produce cores up to 60 tonnes using staples / bars / rails / lifters.
- Produce moulds up to 650 tonnes in boxes / pits using SFEL best practices and paint ready to cast.
- Basic slinging duties.
- Be involved in the casting process.
- Always work to health & safety guidance and regulations.
- Housekeeping duties to maintain high standards in the work areas.
About You:
- Apprentice trained Moulder / Core Maker.
- Previous experience working as a Moulder / Core Maker.
- Ability to read and understand engineering method drawings.
- Previous experience working in a Foundry.
- Comfortable working at heights and in a hot environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of health and safety.
Days/Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week, morning and afternoon shifts.
