At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Manufacturing Engineer to join our recapitalisation team. This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Recapitalisation Team deliver a programme of work specifically focused on substantial critical asset renewal, including but not limited to: A new Forge building with a new Forge press, offices & water pumping station; New Machine Shops; Investment in flood prevention measures and Facilities upgrades to improve the working environment for colleagues.
As a Digital Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery and maintenance of Sheffield Forgemaster’s core Digital Manufacturing systems, including PLM, CAD/CAM and MES. Additionally, supporting the integration and upkeep of auxiliary systems (tool management, simulation, 3D scanning, robotics).
What you’ll be doing:
- Deliver, manage and maintain Sheffield Forgemaster’s core OT systems to enable effective digital transformation and operational performance.
- Develop and support digital process workflows for efficient, precise manufacturing of high-integrity components.
- Implement and sustain LEAN methodologies to reduce waste, minimise variation and improve process flow.
- Contribute to the digital thread by ensuring traceable, validated data throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality and IT to drive adoption of digital tools and strengthen data continuity.
- Produce digital work instructions, visualisations and manufacturing simulations to enhance operator capability.
- Provide user training and first-line support for digital manufacturing systems across the organisation.
About You:
- An awareness of manufacturing systems (PLM, MES, etc.).
- Strong working experience within Operational processes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to form relationships with internal business units.
- Demonstrated application of LEAN manufacturing principles (e.g. 5S, VSM, Kaizen, standard work).

The Working Pattern:
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00.
