At Sheffield Forgemasters we are building more than just a machine shop; we are creating a state-of-the-art hub for precision engineering that will play a key part in the UK manufacturing and defence capability for the future.

Our new machining facility, supported by the £1.3bn investment from the MoD, will increase our current 64-acre footprint by another 16 acres and will house large-scale, modern machinery that utilises digital connectivity and automation to meet future standards. This is your chance to be part of this exciting project from day one, as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

The role is hands-on but with a strategic responsibility to shift from a reactive to proactive approach towards our manufacturing goals.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will manage a growing and developing team of Lead Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Apprentices, providing leadership technical guidance, setting KPIs, and managing budgets, to deliver the end-to-end manufacturing process for complex steel components.
  • You will collaborate with production, planning, maintenance, and quality teams to implement robust manufacturing strategies and resolve technical challenges.
  • Driving continuous improvement is part of what you will do here at Sheffield Forgemasters, so you will be analysing data, utilising lean manufacturing techniques, and supporting with the implementation of new technologies and tools.

About You:

You will have experience of CAD/CAM and PLM systems to be able to be the technical authority in this space. You will take a structured approach to New Product Introduction (NPI) to deliver products in a changing and advancing environment.
