It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Burner to work in our Forge department. This role will involve burning and oxygen lancing hot forgings to the desired size and specifications required.

Role Responsibilities

  • Burning and oxygen lancing hot forgings.
  • Sealing cracks within forgings.
  • Crane driving.
  • Manage the burning up and removal of scrap pieces from the forge.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines set by the company.
  • Ensure all check sheets and other documentation is completed accurately and completely.

About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is a distinct advantage, particularly any crane driving and / or oxy lance burning experience.
  • An understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Previously working in a heavy engineering environment is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willing & able to undertake shift work.

Days/Hours of Work

40 hours per week. Days: 06.00 – 1400, Monday to Friday. Nights: 20.00 – 06.00 Monday to Thursday.
