Sheffield City Council is looking for a Tenancy Support Worker to join our Supported Accommodation Service, supporting care experienced young people living in semi‑independent accommodation. This is a rewarding, hands‑on role where no two days are the same and your work can have a lasting impact.
About the role:- Support care experienced young people to understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants.
- Help young people develop the skills needed for independent living and future council tenancies.
- Manage a caseload, completing assessments and creating individualised support plans.
- Work closely with partner agencies to deliver effective, joined‑up support.
- Promote positive behaviour, reduce risks, and help prevent accommodation breakdown.
- Provide practical support around benefits, budgeting, rent, health and safety.
- Support young people to engage positively with their community and neighbours.
- Contribute to multi‑agency meetings, reviews, and safeguarding processes.
- Work in line with Ofsted regulations and inspection frameworks, ensuring practice consistently meets required standards.
This role currently involves working on a 7‑day rota between 7am and 10pm, including weekends and bank holidays. This may be reviewed in line with the changing service needs. Any out of hours work will be paid at enhanced rates of pay.
What we are looking for:- Experience (paid or voluntary) working with people with support needs, particularly young people or families.
- An understanding of housing‑related support, benefits, and basic housing law.
- Knowledge of issues affecting young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to assess risk, motivate others, and challenge behaviour constructively.
- A flexible, team‑focused approach and a commitment to safeguarding.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade. Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026.
