Opportunity Sheffield – part of Sheffield City Council’s Employment & Skills Service – is expanding following the award of Economic Inactivity Trailblazer and LGF funding. We are now looking for a dedicated Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Officer – In‑Work Support to join our team and help individuals sustain, upskill, and progress in their employment. This role reports directly to the Strategic Support Co‑ordinator.
About the Role
As an IAG Officer within our In‑Work Support team, you will play a vital role in helping employed individuals enhance their career prospects. You will provide high‑quality, impartial guidance to help people remain in work, improve their skills, secure better‑paid job roles, and identify opportunities for progression. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, collaborating with partners across the city to ensure participants receive the best possible support. A key part of the role also involves supporting individuals at risk of redundancy, helping them explore alternative options, retraining routes, or new employment opportunities. Key Responsibilities
- Provide impartial, professional information, advice, and guidance to employed participants accessing skills and progression support.
- Support individuals to upskill, progress, or secure better‑paid roles through tailored action plans and career development conversations.
- Assist participants at risk of redundancy, ensuring they receive timely, practical guidance and access to suitable opportunities.
- Manage a caseload of participants, maintaining accurate case notes and ensuring timely follow‑up.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to deliver high‑quality, coordinated support.
- Connect participants to training, qualifications, and employment pathways that promote progression and long‑term career success.
- Represent Opportunity Sheffield positively and professionally across all interactions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of programme requirements, contributing to key performance targets.
- Identify and elevate risks, issues, or opportunities to programme managers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across employment and skills projects.
- Plan and prioritise workload effectively, ensuring efficient service delivery.
