Are you an experienced Public Rights of Way Ranger with a passion for the great outdoors and a proven track record of practical work on access and rights of way networks as part of countryside and urban greenspace management?
Sheffield boasts a wealth of treasured greenspaces across diverse landscapes, including upland moorland, ancient woodlands, parks, grasslands, and wetlands. Known as The Outdoor City, Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the country, with 4,130 hectares of green space and around 900 miles of public rights of way.
The city’s rights of way network includes rural, woodland, open space, moorland, river corridors, urban fringe, and some urban areas. Most are signposted with their recorded status from the roadside.
The diverse communities of Sheffield value and actively use the city\’s public rights of way network. Maintaining its quality and accessibility is key to supporting community engagement and outdoor activities.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Public Rights of Way Ranger.
This role is within the Ranger Service, as part of a small team of dedicated Public Rights of Way Rangers. You will manage practical aspects of the city’s public footpaths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic, as well as large areas of access land.
Day-to-day, this role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, developing and implementing rights of way improvements and maintenance, conducting surveys, and carrying out health and safety tasks.
We are looking for someone who is innovative, flexible, and self-motivated, with a genuine passion for access, people, and the outdoors.
