Sheffield Deaf/Hearing Support Service
Specialist Teaching Assistant Level 3 (Grade 5) for Deaf/Hearing Impaired children, 30 hours per week, Thursday and Friday (term-time only)
Salary Scale £29,093-£31,586 pro rata (39 weeks per annum)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Deaf/Hearing Support Service as a specialist teaching assistant.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with children and young people across the primary age phase.
The work will involve supporting students in mainstream lessons, and one-to-one or small group work.
BSL (British Sign Language) skills are desirable for this post at Level 2 (equivalent qualifications or experience may be considered) commitment to develop BSL skills is essential and training in BSL may be offered to the successful candidate. An NVQ Level 3 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent is also required.
Although in the first instance this role will be based in one of our specialist primary integrated resource provisions, the postholder will be expected to work as an integral part of the service which may include working with d/Deaf students in schools across the city, and there are opportunities to develop experience and expertise in a variety of roles and settings and the postholder may also be required to provide outreach support to students in other schools.
The ability to travel across Sheffield is desirable, travel expenses paid.
