Sheffield Community CAMHS is a well‑established multidisciplinary service working across two sites – Centenary House and The Becton Centre. Our teams work together, sharing expertise and resources to deliver a high‑quality, evidence‑based service to children, young people, and families.

We are looking for a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join us, working with young people and families across the south and east of the city. Based at our Centenary House site, this is a replacement full‑time post (10 Programmed Activities), with flexibility for part‑time working or job sharing.

Candidates with special interest areas are encouraged to apply, and support will be provided to develop these interests.

About You

MBChB or equivalent, with relevant specialist qualification

CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or within 6 months of completion)

Section 12(2) Approval

Full GMC registration and licence to practise

Interviews expected to be held Wednesday 18th February 2026.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide senior clinical leadership and oversight for the care of referred children and young people
  • Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatments
  • Work collaboratively within the multi‑disciplinary team, participating in joint visits, care planning, and team meetings
  • Contribute to city‑wide service developments and specialist clinics
  • Participate in daily triage or referral discussions where required
  • Prescribe medication or supervise the Nurse Prescriber
  • Offer advice and input into complex case management and treatment planning
  • Participate in service planning, audit, and quality improvement

Qualifications/Training & Professional Qualifications

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent or within 6 months of gaining CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Section 12(2) Approval

Knowledge/Previous Experience Specialty Clinical Expertise

  • Appropriate training and experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Previous Training Management/Audit

  • Basic experience in management e.g. trainee rotas
  • Understanding of NHS management responsibilities of consultants

Academic Achievements Research/Publications

  • Has interest in research and undertaken clinical projects
  • Shown evidence of interest in relevant specialist research
  • Able to communicate well with children, parents and staff
  • Ability to work as a team with professional colleagues from medical and other disciplines
