The Cathedral Choir is seeking to recruit an Organ Scholar to start in May 2026. This role is open to organists and pianists aged 14-18. Organ scholars receive free tuition from Cathedral musicians, including preparation for university organ scholarships, and regular performance opportunities in the Cathedral as well as a bursary for purchasing organ music.

Whilst prior organ experience is desirable, we are also very interested to hear from pianists at approximately ABRSM Grade 5 standard or above who are keen to start learning the organ. In an average week, the organ scholar would be expected to be present for cathedral choir services on Tuesday evenings and both the 10:30 Sunday Eucharist and 16:00 Choral Evensong.

We are also keen, however, to encourage the organ scholars to engage with local churches in Sheffield (for example, playing for a regular Sunday morning eucharist at a local church) and can tailor the Cathedral commitments to each individual accordingly.

The closing date for applications is Friday 27th March at 5pm.
